“I had my guitar set-up and an electrical problem with the wiring sorted by guitar-tech Richard.  This has totally transformed the guitar and is a complete no-brainer in terms of value for money.  Good old-fashioned friendly service with none of the BS I've experienced in many music stores over 50 years of playing”

“Dropped a guitar in for the action to be lowered and it's came back playing the best of all my guitars. Excellent service and I'll definitely be using them again in future”

“I had my guitar serviced by Richard and was very grateful for his advice and the guitar is like new now! A superb wee shop I'd highly recommend. And it's worth supporting as well because of the personal touch and face to face advice. These shops are invaluable”

“Great shop, great advice, repairs and set ups on stringed instruments excellent and not expensive. I've had 3 guitars set up and 3 mandolins. I would highly recommend”

“I had a guitar tune-up through the guys in the shop and they took a decent guitar and made it easier to play and just made it sound so much better.  I would highly recommend this shop to anyone needing a tune-up”

“Thought I’d drop you a note just to say how happy I am with the set up you did on my Sigma this week, I’m delighted with it……plays exactly how I hoped it would” thanks again Richard.

Richard McGeachie is our in-store Luthier. Having graduated from the stringed instrument course at Anniesland College in Glasgow, he initially worked at Jimmy Moon’s guitar building and renovation facility, eventually becoming a full time employee of the Music Centre in the early 2000’s.

He is now considered to be one of the most experienced luthiers in Scotland. As Richard works “in store” we are able to offer not only the most cost competitive service rates, but also a repair turnaround time, unsurpassed  by any of our competitors.

Although many retailers offer servicing, most have to farm the work out to independent repairers and that results in both increased expense and slower turnaround times!

We can add an active pickup system to most acoustic guitars that will look and sound as good as the units  installed at the manufacturing process of specific available electro acoustic models.

The cost involved can vary according to the make & model of the units used, but typically a unit with graphic tone circuitry & inbuilt tuner would be in the region of £85 (inc unit , fitting & vat)

Acoustic, 12 string & nylon classical guitars can all benefit from this upgrade.

Turn an acoustic guitar to a professional “stage” model  for  we think is a modest fee!

We have a fully equipped workshop and this allows the rep[air and renovation of most stringed instruments, not only guitars but banjos, mandolins, ukuleles and the range of classical stringed instruments: violins, violas. cellos etc.

Whether it’s just a re-string that’s required, a complete re-fret and setup, or rewire of a guitars electrical circuit, we do this efficiently and effectively to give you the best service available with the greatest cost benefit to yourself. And that’s a promise!

We don’t charge for any estimates required and we’re happy to give you an honest appraisal on rectifying any problems that you have with your instrument.
